At 4YP we are looking to add more Youth Work expertise to our board and our staff.
Our Youth Workers come from a variety of life situations. Some want part time work that fits around home life or are studying Youth Work or related higher qualification. Others have full-time careers elsewhere but love the opportunity to work with young people and earn an extra income. What all our workers have in common is an ability to engage with young people and a passion and understanding of the work we do and the impact it can make.
We have the following opportunities for qualified Youth Workers locally – or those people with extensive relevant work experience in the youth work sector:
- Board Member – providing a voluntary advisory role to the Director – time commitment = 3 evening meetings per year (1 per term)
- Sessional Youth Leader (regular and bank staff) – to take ownership of and run one or more Youth Club per week or as bank staff on an ad hoc basis to cover sickness and absence
We have the following opportunities for part-qualified Youth Workers locally – or those people with the right experience and attitude who are willing to train alongside their work with young people:
- Sessional Youth Support Worker (bank staff) – Level 2 or 3 qualified – or willing and committed to undertake one of these qualifications
- Volunteer Youth Worker – providing support to our qualified team this is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a youth work setting, ideal for students as a placement option, as experience for your CV or for anyone wanting to change career or just to give back to their local community.
As anyone in the sector knows, youth work is under-funded and under-represented. In order to keep our youth services operating it is critical we have appropriately trained staff available, and on call, to ensure this provision can go ahead each week.
If you have the capacity and are willing to help support this vital service in our community than 4YP would love to hear from you. The right person at the right time can turn a young person’s world around and at 4YP we want our youth team to be there for young people when they need us.
To express an interest in any of the above roles please contact info@4ypuk.com for more information or to arrange an informal chat.
Pete’s feedback
“Working for 4YP is, to use an overused cliché, like being part of a very healthy family. Everyone puts everyone else first; the support, flexibility, and open and encouraging environment make it less of a job in the traditional sense and more of a vocation in a culture where your work is recognised, appreciated, and valued consistently.”
